Hackery is the blog of Gavin Carr, technologist, Linux pundit, perl hacker, and owner of Australian open source consultancy Open Fusion.

I have almost 20 years of experience in the IT industry, and have worked professionally in database administration and consulting (Oracle), systems administration (predominantly Linux and Solaris), and in web development and administration. I'm a RedHat Certified Engineer (RHCE), and for the last 8 years have run Open Fusion, an open source consultancy offering Linux and web consulting services to local and international clients from Sydney, Australia. My primary interests are around the Linux and web spaces, and include:

• automated and large-scale approaches to system administration

• system and network monitoring and management

• cutting-edge web development (Web 2.0, AJAX, RESTful web services, MVC web development frameworks, etc.)

• the interface between technology and culture, particularly as brokered by the web
